I was very honoured to spend Mother's Day this year with my friend Karen, her lovely mother Shirley and her gorgeous daughter Gemma. It is always wonderful to see several generations of one family spending time together, and it was truly a pleasure to photograph these three beautiful women enjoying each other's company. There is a certain kind of ease that comes with family, and being with someone you have known your whole life, and it really showed through in these photographs.

As you know black and white isn't my usual go-to editing choice, but Karen loved the black & white images from this session and I think they look classic and timeless in a monochrome palette.

I had so much fun chasing these little ones around their backyard one afternoon last month. Little Miss M in particular is a total cutie, just a little camera shy.

I hadn't seen Coop for over five months when we did this session, and I can't believe how much he has grown! He's a real little man now :)

This was my first cake smash, and mum Niccy did an awesome job styling everything for the shoot, including making this awesome backdrop.

After you get covered head to toe in blue icing, what else is there to do but wash up?

I wish I had some photos of Niccy and I after the session, it would have been hilarious. Nic had blue icing up her arm, and I'd managed to get soap suds up my sleeve. We must have looked quite the pair!
